Zalera is THE PvP Server

Permalink Closed

I'm not sure why I even need to make this a topic, but what the heck.

If you're serious about PvP, ladders, etc. and don't give a fuck about carebear bullshit (PVE LOL)

come to Zalera

Period

We have multi glads / r1s along with class reps etc from WoW / TOR and other games

We're serious about PvP here

Those who have thought about transferring here, know that you will definitely have good teammates to play with quite frequently if you do transfer.  You can contact Lady Shin(Longnu Era), me(Ge Ming), or Phazed Medica in game or via forum PMs if you have an interest in transferring for PvP purposes.  We also have 3 Coil groups running at the moment and a 4th that is currently forming if you wish to sometimes do PvE on the side.

Maybe so after I quit the game after being the top rated team in the world for 8 months or so. I was the GM. The other idiots they let in ran it to shit.

I'm actually interested in the story of Casual if you would enlighten me. It was undeniably a great team, but short term. It didn't seem long-lasting. What's the deal?

Well, Casual's reign lasted pretty much the entire time ranked warzones were out (almost a year), up until the expansion came out and ranked warzones were supposedly going to be taken out for arenas. Not much we could have done to increase the longevity of the guild if the game itself felt lackluster and boring. I'm not sure how much you know about Casual already, but I'm going to assume you know some of the major people.

I was originally from Veela, my Sorc's name was Malzahara Divine and my Sin's name was Domain Divine. I played on and off up until the first major server merge, where I was transferred to Pot5. That was when rateds first came out if I remember correctly. I joined Casual after a few weeks as their main Sorc healer. Not sure if you've heard about the whole PKer's and Whispyr beef story, but it became a rivalry where we essentially shut PKers up and made them quit the game. Our lineup then was Zap and Whisypr on sins, Liege at jugg, G'g and Thingone on PT's, Chea at Marauder, Primegirl at Operative, and myself as Sorc. Shortly after, Zap (the GM), quit SWTOR to go 'pro' in Smite. You may see him stream on Twitch sometimes under Zapman55. Anyway, we didn't have any leadership after that, and I naturally ended up filling that hole (and started playing my Sin). For a while, we pretty much farmed everyone until people started to queue dodge or just stop playing rateds for the night when we started queue'ing (we queue'd late because I had night classes). Then GW2 came out, and Liege and I decided to just play rateds once or twice a week and play GW2 hardcore.

A month later, since we weren't around as much, more ranked teams started popping up (such as HSP and RSU) and self proclaimed that they were the top ranked team on Pot5. So naturally, the Casual guys took exception to that and we decided to go hard at it again. After a few weeks, the same results happened. Teams started dodging or stopped wanting to queue against us. Our only competition was HSP, and after shutting them up, a few of their team quit the game. We were out of teams to play against, yet again.

And then, they announced that Fatman would be merging with us. Oh boy, can you imagine the amount of e-peen after that was announced? Seal Team Sith, Hostile Takeover, I AM LEGEND and whoever else came around, talking their mess, etc. Anyway, STS was supposed to be Fatman's best team at that time, and they were actually quite easy to beat. After a few weeks of farming all of the Fatman teams, we ran into the same problems again. Teams were dodging or quitting when they saw us log in, etc. We didnt have anyone to play against. As a result, we secretly geared out alts under a different guild name so that we could play rateds without people knowing it was us. Welp, that lasted for a week because we had some immature brats (ie. Whispyr) spoil it for us. Long story short, Whispyr was always causing problems. I would actually be quite surprised if you hadnt heard of him if you kept up with the SWTOR scene. We decided it was time to boot him and some of his friends, and we recruited Mugen/Fuu (maybe you know him) from Fatman to replace him at the Assassin spot so that I could go back to my Sorc. From then on, we pretty much played rateds for however long people wanted to get stomped by us for. Sometimes teams would revive and try playing again, but then they'd quit. Then the Bastion got involved.

I'm sure you've seen Justbodies streaming all the time from <Hey Im MVP>. Well, we all thought they were really bad, always bragging about huge healing or damage amounts because they just played the game completely different and were more focused on objectives rather than just straight destruction. I told Liege that I didn't want to do this cycle, YET AGAIN, of shutting more people up... it seemed like a neverending cycle and I was in my last semester of grad school. He asked me to shut these MVP kids up one last time and settle once and for all who was the top team (since the Bastion and Pot5 were the only two servers that hadn't played each other yet.) Well, shit escalated, and the MVP guys decided to make alts on pot5 and min max them. We were on our alts one night, and they queue sniped our alt team with their alt team. We stomped them 5 times straight with our alt team and they quit. Of course they had their excuses, "we were on alts, blah blah" so I said fine, we'll play on PTS at level 55. PTS for the expansion came out, and before all the exploits and bugs for gear were discovered, we played many teams NA and Europe as well. After a couple days of winning, the gear exploits and such were discovered on PTS and PvP was broken. I decided that I was done with SWTOR, there was nothing left to accomplish. Whoever remained in Casual, we decided we would all play FF14. Some of them tried to play it, but only I remain.

As for Casual, Liege never liked assuming a leadership position, so Mugen ended up being the leader. Funny, he was our newest member and he became lead. We recruited some Sorc named Mudclot, who apparently became a core/important member of the ranked team. I believe him and Thurinlore (if you've heard of this guy, he's an idiot and rode on our coattails) decided they wanted to transfer to the Bastion because there was nothing left on Pot5, and the guild was split in this decision. I think this pretty much caused the demise of Casual, and everyone went their separate ways.

From my perspective, the fun parts of SWTOR itself wasn't long lasting. As a hardcore PvP guild, there is only so much you can do if other teams don't want to queue up against you. How else are you going to play? We used to go to Tattooine all the time and play 4v4, but that also only lasts so long. I fear that FF14 will also see many of the same issues since the hardcore PvP community itself is so small. To my knowledge, there are only like, 3 active r30 teams right now? But in any case, hope you appreciate the wall of text.  I'm at work and trying to type this up before my lunch break is over.  Hopefully PvP will become more exciting before we see more players phase out.

I appreciate sharing that history with me. Gives a far clearer picture. I'd like to say, I personally respected Liege for his ability. The basis I built Watchmen around was to have a strong PvP guild that will outlast SWTOR and go onto bigger, better games in the future. Much of Watchmen was initially built of my success as a prominent Shadow, but overtime that converted to me not being the only pillar and today - Watchmen is strong in its roots, thanks to more than one person now supporting the idea of what we are. Something lasting.

Here we are in FF14, even though the PvP here is sparse and I'm still with out proper internet. We'll also be experimenting with Wildstar as well - since they say that is the next 'big one'. We'll see.
