gw2 stress test for like three more hours

Ya, they took stealth in a new direction with this game making it more of an escape/utility move than a sneaky form of movement or a must for your opener. Interested to see how that turns out.

If I was going Warrior I'd go either Hammer for the obscene amount of stuns/knockdowns/slows or Greatsword for the high damage and charge effect. Dual-wield Maces also looks pretty sweet for the high damage and constant armor debuffs to enemies which'll be very helpful in team combat.

Although I have a feeling I'll mostly be leveling through PvP (you can do that right?), I definitiely am interested in the Dynamic Event system and how that will play out. Seems insane.. but also too good to be true. Have you run into much of that? Is it pretty common? If I'm gonna be watching streams it's to see the PvP so haven't had much of a chance to check out the leveling process.

Edit: ALSO wtf is up with people back pedaling in this game??? Every person I've watched has been doing this a lot... is this game just different or is everyone just Imp skill level?

It's a really different combat system, I don't really like that I can activate an ability out of range and it'll still fire and stuff, but it really does make me a better player. People... people are bad, this is the beta, but people are backpedaling and going crazy nutso.

Why the sighs?! I do not understand.

Anyway, the link below is like, a few minutes of various footage I captured from the hour or so I played. Oh yeah, the active event system honestly makes doing your usual pve levelling quests really fun, like, the very first quest you do as a human is pretty epic. They're not all cool and heroic fighting giant air elementals (e.g. help farmer waldo pick his apples or w/e) but they really are a nice change of pace. I do plan on leveling through PvP however.

edit: all of the armour in the game is not that ugly, in fact, i like it a lot. that's just the default insta-80 wz armour you get put into for warzones only. if you do the cool guy RvR stuff, you wear what you bring.

Wait... so we'll have to wear that disgusting armor every time we enter a WZ? Even at max level?

Meh, RvR looks boring tbh. Spend more time attacking doors than enemies.

Also, LOL at the first kill in your video. hahahahaha

Watching some streams right now... amazing!

As much as I hate magicy-ness, and therefore not a fan of Paladin type classes, I'm watching this guy play the Guardian class and it looks ridiculous. Just watched him hold a node vs 2 other guys pretty easily because of the sheer survivability and utility moves the class has.

Was wanting to go Warrior just cause they're awesome but if I want to fill the same group role I did in SWTOR then I might go Guardian... we'll see.

I played a dw axe warrior in the insta-80 pvp and they can pump out some srrrrrs numbers. This game will need a little bit of balance though, you can find builds for the thief where you can abuse a weapon switching +dmg buff to get 20k ambushes. :P

My ooooonly complaint about this game is the lack of general stealth!

Oh yeah, I never thought this'd be that big of a plus in my mind but this game kind of feels like a living world, with the live events and everything not to mention the generally massive scale of everything -- some of these cities are seriously huge.

I do not work for arenanet. >_>

Looking at going Hammer and Sword/Shield:

http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en&code=346000782oh63piabd00uua2d2h2l2q2r2udu

Seems to give lots of survivability and control via stuns and other ccs, in addition to taking the Defensive and Tactics Traits. Not sure about the support skills (whatever the skills on the right are called) but so far I think disruption is the way to go rather than some mediocre passive abilities and long cooldown defensive abilities.

Geeze this game needs to come out soon! Super pumped already!
