Thoughts on Possible Future PvP Additions?

Arenas would by far be the greatest addition this game could have. Small scale PvP on a whole would be more beneficial to people's lives on a whole. Gathering 8 solid players is alone, a pain. Moved to General.

Was sitting here at work and thinking about ideas for other PvP to be introduced to SWTOR.

Some modes that I think would be fun:

Arenas - 2v2 to 4v4 deathmatch, with NO gear being obtainable from them. Making the best gear come from Arenas was the worst decision WoW ever made, as far as I'm concerned. Make each arena match cost credits to enter and have the winner take the pot, imo. Highest stakes = best players, hopefully.

"Highlander" Warzones - Stolen from TF2, make a mode where you do Warzones (possibly Rated as well) with 1 of each AC (there can be only ONE!). I think this would actually probably stifle a lot of the "OP OP NERF" whining about particular class/specs, because you wouldn't be able to stack them. Comps would be really neat to figure out. Major problem would be that 1) it would take people out of queues for normal WZ's and 2) it would take forever to assemble a proper team.

Any other ideas? Thoughts on the above?

The only 'pure' PVP is TDM arenas, objectives completely ruin it! It isn't a test of skill! Tbh, focusing the right target and staying in top of your interrupts, etc should be your objectives!

On my phone, would angrily/nerdily elaborate otherwise. Edit: Flag capping and the like shift the player vs. player dynamic to a whole new metagame, though they are fun if well executed.

Smaller teams might be interesting. But I'd rather have objective based pvp. Arenas tend to highlight class imbalance, plus it gets pretty repetitious.

Objectives allows for the use of tactics. More thinking involved. Not to mention the fact that countering/focusing targets is a big part of objective games as well. Everything that an arena would have an objective based wz has, in addition to strategy.

Gotta agree with Kam, I like objective-based PvP more. More communication and well-thought CC needed than just grabbing the most currently OP comp and rolling. However, I think Arenas would be a decent addition if they weren't the focus of PvP in SWTOR. This worked well in Guild Wars and I think it would play well in this game too.
