i am gonna start a livestream to help any bh/troop heals out there and need to know how to go about doing this what i need to download/programs so on any help would be helpful!
step 1. go to www.twitch.tv and create an account. step 2. google search "xsplit broadcaster" and download the trial version. step 4. go to www.speedtest.net and determine you UPLOAD bandwidth. step 5. go to www.twitch.tv/broadcast and (making sure you are logged in) click the "stream key button".
thats all you need to actually start streaming. once you finish those steps you'll need to setup xsplit. instructions follow..
Step 1. Open xsplit broadcaster and once it finishes loading up, click "broadcast" at the top, and then "edit channels" Step 2. Click "Add..." button, the "justintv/twitchtv" Step 3. fill in username, password, and the "stream key" that you got in the above instructions. Channel is your username. Step 4. Video Encoding Section: a. Preset- Leave at "xsplit default" b. Quality- 9 or 10. c. VBV Max Bitrate (kbps)- For this you will need to know your upload speed from the above instructions. Basically you want to take whatever your upload is, and cut it in half. For example, If your upload speed is 3mbs, then this number needs to be set at 1500kbps. (remember, you need to have some left for actually playing the game.) d. VBV Buffer- Same as the max bitrate. e. Resolution- Default.
Once you finish those settings, hit "ok" then hit apply and ok on the channels window. Step 5. Setting up your display. At the bottom left you should see a "add" button, then "add screen region" . Click that, then click anywhere on the screen you want people to see, pretty easy if you only have one monitor. Step 6. Click and drag the box that is in the main viewer of xsplit, to fit the WHOLE BOX. Your Desktop should fill the viewport. Step 7. Click on "view" at the top, then in each of the following sections, follow these settings. a. Resolutions - Whatever your native resolution is, UNLESS you use 1080p. you probably dont have the upload to support 1080p streaming, so it is recommended that you use 960x540, OR 720p. b. Frame Rate- Since you probably didn't buy a user license for xsplit, 25 fps is the highest that you can set your stream to, so just leave it there. c. Transistion, Projector and Transition speed, DO NOT mess with. d. Scale viewport, just basically makes the VIEW BOX, smaller so its easier to work with, does not effect stream settings.
ONCE you have finished all of this you sir are ready to stream, all you need to do is click "broadcast" at the top, and click "twitchtv/whateveryourstreamiscalled" and it will begin streaming.
Enjoy.
P.S. If you can go higher than 1500 on the max bitrate, that would be great, else you will end up with a choppy pixelated stream like some people.
