GW2

If you haven't checked it out or played around with any of the skill calculator utilities, I highly reccomend you do. I had high hopes for SWTOR and since beta they've consistently disappointed me or proven unwilling to discuss their design choices in depth with the playerbase. All of these things, ArenaNet have done the opposite of.

If you played the original GW briefly like I did, you might have some reservations that GW2 is basically a series of linked arenas (poor description) like the original was. It's not, it's a full fledged (very pretty too) MMO which from my experiences in the beta is top notch.

I'm very excited for it. If anybody has any apprehensions and wants a semi-objective review of levels 1-20 and the PVP system, hit me up.

I just don't see how a class that has to use 20-30 actions in PvP likes a game that you are limited to 8 at any given time..minus the dodge buttons.

You are a good PvP'r so i may check it out based upon your review of the game.

My biggest concerns for GW2

~Very limited combat. Less actions. Lots of kiting.

~Very dependent on numbers your against. Seems that you may run into the problem with warhammer PVP. World PvP will be based on how many is where and when.

I never played the Beta and I am a gamer and usually try everything. So we will see.
I just think it will be the kind of game that entertains you but in the big picture it won't for a long period of time.

But give me the info when the time comes where guildies may be going and ill prolly try it with you all.

Oh and I'm a huge trinity fan. So i could be biased. I think tanks, heals, and dps classes bring a true aspect to strategy. I do know that there is class tweaks that can make you a little of each. So i guess it might be worth trying out.

A game is only fun if there is friends.

The great thing about GW2 is that it's a skill game. There's no gear tiers, no insane amount of abilities to use, and the combat is very dependant on the player (i.e. the dodge system). The small amount of abilities doesn't hamper combat, but enhances it. If you think about it you usually don't use more than 10 core abilities during a fight. I understand there are more than 10 in most games but if you are using more than that then they're probably long CD abilities which are only used every once in a while. Also, without those long CD abilities combat will be less about who has their CDs up and more about who can straight up outplay their opponent using similar skills and gear. Also, with so few skills it will be a lot easier to balance the game. Although, I should point out that there aren't just 8 skills - there are dozens that you chose to put on your bars, which adds to customization and choice to your toon so it's not just a premade *doll.

Another plus for GW2 is that it's basically just a PvP game. This means that Arenanet is going to be focusing on PvP balance as well as creating new WZs and game styles all the time. The PvP in game right now already has a tournament structure built in where a group of 5 queues up and competes in a bracketed 8 group tournament. Matches are best of 3, which is awesome, and you continue playing as you win, obvs. Arenanet has also promised monthly tournaments and other PvP-centric events as well.

Ya, I'm also a fan of the trinity (tank, duh) but I think for PvP it's pretty bad. It becomes who has more/better heals with the losing side just getting slaughtered. GW2 will allow tons of group make ups to be viable and make every person less reliant on another person keeping them alive. Again, it comes down to skill - not composition (although I'm sure some comps will be better than others).

I haven't looked at World PvP much as that doesn't really interest me but from what I have seen it's pretty immense and engaging, with matches lasting for 2 weeks at a time.

PvE.. lol.

Anyways, I am super excited for this game and after the 10 or so hours of playing in beta I can say that I'm sure I will be playing it for a long time.

P.S. You can enter the PvP area at level 1 and it bumps you up to 80 while inside. Aka you never have to level again!

*not my term.

Well as long as enough of you are going to be there I will try it out.

I just don't want to play a PvP game with scrubs. I just hate that. I also hate making friends and they all ninja play another game.

So keep a active thread when the time comes about who is going where.

So my biggest question is..I know how the action bars are. Can you change Weapons/Abilities on the fly?
Or is it something you pick and roll with till your out of combat?

Ya, we're basically all going over to it when it's released (aka Lion and me).

You enter the WZ having chosen everything and it's set until you're out. Your first 5 abilities come from your weapon, the last 5 are utility skills that you set up. You have 2 weapon sets equipped and they can be swapped during combat with like an 8 second cool down or something. So you can have a Great Sword on one slot and Rifle on the other and will switch out depending on the situation. When you swap weapons the first half of your bar changes to the abilities linked with your weapon. The remaining 5 stay the same.

ArenaNet wants to make GW2 an MLG game, which is a lot more than WoW or SWTOR ever wanted. They've actively made it their mission to keep it balanced which I'm really into.

tbh I think that there's a great number of skills and the fact that you can customize them to your exact playstyle is amazing. It also limits people from being a jack of all trades!

Plus or minus list of stuff. Some people might agree with some might disagree. But here's the long list of stuff. Interesting read through. Don't agree with all of it. Some of it, i'd say buy a razer and GBB.

Thank god someone out there has bad things to say about this game. An objective view is the one I'm most likely to make a decision on. Every single person I've seen talk about GW2 has spoken of it like a unicorn that pisses rainbows and farts gold.

That being said I will probably give the game a try.

how many of you bought into the D3 hype only te regret buying it. Expecting more from it. But it was just a tired reskinned pos. You may make fun of me. I've already wasted 60 dollars for hype once. I think i'll wait a year before i put any more money towards another GW title. First one was craptastic. Don't like that company to begin with.

I don't regret buying D3 and everyone else seemed to have fun playing it. I've wasted 60 dollars for hype so many times it's not even funny. The important thing is having 60 to waste :) I get suspicious when people speak too highly about a game. Doesn't mean I'm alway right. I mean I'm right a lot but...

Everyone has differing opinions. That's why you gotta try it for yourself before you judge.

I guess I should let all of my personal experiences with the game go up in flames because somebody on the Internet has concerns about the game. I'm not one of those people who are saying this is the WoWkiller, this is the greatest video game on Earth. I'm just saying that it's a fun game and what I want to play next.

Ill play as well, since that's where we seem to have our eyes set. Still... I'd like to do another game. Preferably non-mmo.

I was thinking this the other day. I'm tired of class and balance issues. But other types of games just can't maintain my interest level for more than a few weeks. If there were more things to do in DayZ than hunt players and fix up vehicles then that game would be the solution. I wish developers would start experimenting with mmos without classes and the inherent balance issues they bring.

Seriously thinking of transfering servers. Had an "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" experience last night. We were trying to cap a tower in WvWvW. Our trebs got a wall down and people kept attacking the gate. We were yelling in /s /m /t and still the idiots were hitting the gate.

Server transfers are currently free. Is there any reason Yak's Bend has to be the Watchmen server? We could reform the guild elsewhere which would work better since Glass seems to be MIA. After SWTOR, I don't think I can play another MMO on a server full of retards again. I just don't think I have it in me.
